Coca-Cola to sell NFT to raise money for Special Olympics International


To celebrate International Friendship Day, Atlanta-based beverage company Coca-Cola, partnered with leading Utah-based digital art and avatar company startup Tafi introduced a series of four, first-ever non-fungible tokens (NFT) collectibles to raise money for Special Olympics International.
Coco-Cola, having a long record of creating and selling collectibles in real world, now joined hands with Tafi for selling Coca-Cola branded nonfungible tokens and other crypto collectives. Three-day auction, organized at OpenSea online marketplace where the four-piece multi-sensory NFT collections will be sold as a single asset in a digital version of a collectible 1956 retro vending machines, “Friendship Box”. The buyers of the artwork can bid for this Friendship Box which is packaged like a “loot box” in video games.
The series also includes a metallic red Bubble Jacket Wearable, that can be used in virtual world Decentraland; The Friendship Card, a digital design based on the company's friendship-inspired trading cards introduced in the 1940s. and The Sound Visualizer, which captures different audio cues like the pop of a bottle opening or the sound of the soda being poured over ice, the unmistakable fizz, and that first refreshing taste. The auction will start at 12:01 a.m. UTC on Friday, July 30, and will close at 8 p.m. UTC on Monday, August 2.
The bids must be placed with Ether (ETH). Additional unique and valuable surprises will be unveiled exclusively to the auction’s winning bidder when digitally opened the loot box. The money raised from the auction will be donated to a sports organization Special Olympics International.
Other companies in NFT
As NFTs are getting popular, companies like Pringles or entertainment brand Superplastic are showing interest in creating NFTs. On Wednesday, to celebrate the soup company’s newly designed label, Campbell along with artist Sophia Chang and shoppable video app NTWRK worked together to create the NFT collection. Taco Bell also created taco NFT collections. Recently, luxury brands like Dolce & Gabbana released their own high-fashion NFT collections.
