One of the Oldest News Publication South China Morning Post will now have ‘ARTIFACT’ as news archives into NFTs. The announcement was made while advocating the standard meta structure. On July 19th this announcement was made so that accounts of history and historical assets associated with blockchain being non-fungible tokens (NFTs) can be recorded.

As per the post there has been some factual accounts of the authentic history and the assets that needs to be immutable. Since the ownership of such assets that are tokenized and digital are part of the human experience, it is time for it to get decentralised. 

Currently, NFT has been trying out the best for achieving the objectives while SCMP has been aiming to create a standard metadata structure which anyone can be using. This way the history can get tokenized as the NFTs that will be known as ‘ARTIFACTs’. 

‘ARTIFACTs’ shall work as the foundation where the history was not just discovered but also connected and collected in much meaningful manner.  

Gary Liu, SCMP's CEO, in a statement said "The South China Morning Post is committed to engaging and educating a global audience with information and technology,". Further he also added "The ‘ARTIFACT’ project is an opportunity to discover, collect, showcase, trade, and reanimate meaningful moments and objects from our collective human experience and we are excited to introduce this standard to the world. 


The purpose behind  it :

This announcement was made while it was partnering with The Sandbox. Its sole intention was to recreate the decentralized virtual space platform with media assets of its 118 years of journalism that has been NFT has already owned it. 

South China Morning Post is one of the largest and most popular English media in Hong Kong. It is one of the oldest publications in Asia that is expected to soon move towards non-fungible token (NFT).
