The European Union is set to reveal plans for a bloc-wide digital wallet on Wednesday (02-June-21). The requests from the members specify a safe mode for citizens to contact public and private services online. The Financial Times have reported it to get updates.

The app will permit citizens all through the EU to strengthen access to a variety of private and public services. This is provided with a single online ID, as per the FT report on Tuesday. The digital wallet will safely store payment details and passwords. It also permits citizens from all 27 countries to log onto local government websites or wage utility bills using a single recognized identity. This was released in a newspaper quoting people with direct knowledge of the plans.

The EU-wide app can be edited through fingerprint or retina scanning among other methods. It will also help as a vault where users can supply official documents like the driver's license, the newspaper confirmed.

EU officials will impose a structural separation to stop companies that access user data from using the wallet for any other marketing activity such as marketing new products.

Brussels is involved in talks with member states to provide guidelines on technical standards for the rollout of the digital wallet. It is expected to be completely operational in about a year, according to the newspaper. As per the firm, the outbreak of the second wave of the pandemic has led to “severe economic and social disruptions”.

In one release it specified that- “The Company, in line with its ‘Putting India First' credo, is supporting the nation's fight against the pandemic and has undertaken numerous initiatives in this regard”.

Its key involvements include facilitation of the bottlenecks in transporting medical oxygen, supply of medical oxygen to government hospitals from its Bhadrachalam plant. It introduces oxygen concentrators and generators for donation, easing the setting up of medical facilities to supplement the healthcare infrastructure. The security and well-being of its employees, partners and associates endure being of paramount importance.
