StarkWare Open Sources Zero-Knowledge Tech for Ethereum Scalability

Leading blockchain solutions provider StarkWare has made a significant move to advance the future of decentralized technology by open-sourcing its STARK Prover software. The move is aimed at enabling the scaling of the Ethereum network, one of the largest decentralized platforms in the world.
StarkWare is driving Ethereum scalability with its popular layer-2 scaling solutions, StarkEx and Starknet. By utilizing zero-knowledge rollups technology, the company aims to provide faster and more cost-effective transactions for the world's largest smart contract platform.?
The announcement was made at the StarkWare Sessions 2023 conference in Tel Aviv, where attendees also learned about the latest advancements in storage proofs and the launch of a full-node solution called Starknode by Kasar Labs.
Co-founder and President of StarkWare, Eli Ben-Sasson, called this a landmark moment for scaling Ethereum and cryptography. He referred to the Prover as the "magic wand" of Stark technology, capable of generating the proofs necessary for unfathomable scaling.
"This is a landmark moment for scaling Ethereum, and in a wider sense for cryptography," said Eli Ben-Sasson. "It will put STARK technology in its rightful place, as a public good which will be used to benefit everyone."
This open-source release follows the previously open-sourced Papyrus software and Cairo 1.0 programming language. StarkWare continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in the decentralized space.
StarkWare's Starknet blockchain service went live in November 2021 and has made notable advancements since. In March 2022, Alchemy, a blockchain API and node provider, integrated with Starknet. The following month, MakerDAO declared their plans to integrate Starknet to reduce the cost of DAI transfers. Payment giant Visa recognized the use of Ethereum and Starknet's layer two service in a blog post in December 2022.
