This month, Dapper Labs, the developer of Flow blockchain as well as a blockchain and software company, is launching a closed beta of its platform based on the LaLiga Spanish soccer league called LaLiga Golazos non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace.
A limited number of users will have access to the marketplace when it opens up on October 27. The first pack will be released on that date. The new Flow-based platform, similar to NBA Top Shot and NFL All Day, will display NFT collectibles based on noteworthy video clips. A collection of iconic highlights from all of the teams between 2005 and this year will be included.
LaLiga's Executive Director, Óscar Mayo, explained: “LaLiga is steeped in history, tradition, and legendary moments and our fans are some of the most passionate in the world and we are excited to offer a new way for them to experience the moments they love.”
He added, “LaLiga Golazos allows fans to own and collect LaLiga plays and moments from 2005-present. We are constantly innovating new ways to bring LaLiga, its Clubs, and Players closer to our fans, and with our partner, industry-leader Dapper Labs, we can give them the ability to truly be a part of this fanatical experience.”
Blockchain-based NFTs prove ownership of items like digital collectibles with unique edition numbers. Video game items, digital artwork, and profile pictures are also popular uses for NFTs. As a result of NBA Top Shot's early success and mainstream recognition, NFT trading volume grew to $25 billion in 2021.
The LaLiga Golazos tokenized moments will also feature replay highlights and player reactions, as well as match statistics and play-by-play narration. The NFTs will feature LaLiga marks, guaranteeing authenticity and ownership.
