Franklin Templeton Launches Metaverse and Blockchain ETF for European Investors

An exchange-traded fund (ETF) launched by Franklin Templeton gives investors access to companies associated with the metaverse and blockchain technology.? 


The firm believes metaverse is futuristic, shared virtual and mixed reality experiences powered by digital technologies. Interactions, socialization, learning, shopping, work, and play will be impacted by the metaverse as it is an interactive and immersive space. 


Dina Ting and Lorenzo Crosato of Franklin Templeton will manage the ETF, which has been listed on XETRA. On September 9, the ETF will be listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) and Borsa Italiana.?

 

In her statement, Dina Ting, Head of Global Index Portfolio Management at Franklin Templeton, said: “Society has already experienced three foundational changes in the way that technology operates and how it’s been delivered since the early 1970s. This exciting fourth wave is now emerging, enabled by blockchain technology." 


She adds, "Blockchain technology development is propelling metaverse expansion possibilities in compelling and far-reaching ways. We believe that investment in the metaverse and its rising sophistication bode well for the next iteration of the internet, which could profoundly impact societies and global economic growth.”
