On May 23, Basketball legend Earvin Magic Johnson joined the NFT space by launching 'The Anthology: Magic Johnson' NFT collection on NBA Top Shot.

As indicated by NBA Top Shot's site, the NFT collection will drop on June 7 and consist of 1,600 NFT packs that incorporate rare and legendary moments from Johnson's career, with a price of $399 per pack. Each pack will incorporate 1 Moment NFT from either the Rare or Legendary level.

The NBA’s Top Shot announced the launch, saying, “To celebrate one of the most gifted and beloved players in NBA history – a 5X NBA champion, 3X Finals MVP, 3X NBA MVP, 12X NBA All-Star, and member of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team – we’re doing things differently.”

The announcement went on to say, “Our partnership with Magic is a special occasion that calls for an all-new collector experience, including a first-of-its-kind Anthology set reserved for iconic plays from NBA legends.”

The organization stated that 1,200 of the packs will be airdropped to individuals with a Top Shot score of 150,000+, and the excess 400 will be openly accessible no matter what a purchaser's score.

Magic Johnson took Twitter on Monday to announce the launch, saying, “I’m really excited to partner with @nbatopshot to release my first NFTs and bring some of my favorite Moments from my career to fans everywhere. Fans get to see just a few of my favorite plays from my career!”

Magic Johnson continues in the paths of other sporting greats to draw their famous sporting moments in digital history.

In 2020, the NBA in collaboration with Dapper Labs launched Top Shot, the NBA NFT marketplace, based on the Flow (FLOW) blockchain.
