Decentraland gets Samsung's metaverse store

Samsung Electronics America
has unveiled Samsung 837X, an interactive virtual reality experience store, at
8:37 AM ET on January 6.
The 837X is Samsung's first
foray into Decentraland, a blockchain-powered virtual world. Fans will be
immersed in a variety of digital adventures in the Connectivity Theater and
Sustainability Forest.
Samsung's new metaverse
experience draws inspiration from its physical flagship store in New York City
which integrates technology and culture to build an immersive playground for
people to explore the possibilities.
The first step to visiting
837X is to connect with Decentraland. Once online, the user can see their
avatar standing outside of an amazing virtual 837X building. From there, the
user can enter and experience 837X.
According to an
announcement from the Korean electronics manufacturer, “Samsung’s new metaverse
experience brings its spirit as an experiential playground for people to
discover the amazing possibilities when technology and culture collide.”
Samsung will allow fans to
collect 837X Non-Fungible Token (NFT) badges during their travels through the
theater and forest. Samsung will present news while DJ Gamma Vibes will host a
mixed reality live dance party at the stage.
A Samsung Electronics
America spokesperson, Michelle Crossan-Mattos, said in a statement that the
company is thrilled to grow better connectivity,
sustainability, and customization in an immersive way, in a unique setting.
Adding, "The metaverse
empowers us to transcend physical and spatial limits to create unique virtual
experiences that could not happen otherwise. Innovation is in our DNA, and we
can’t wait for you all to experience this burgeoning virtual world."
Several metaverse tokens
associated with projects like Decentraland and The Sandbox have gained decently
in recent weeks. Decentraland (MANA), Decentralized's native token, has grown
2,314 percent year-to-date.
