Reddit Testing NFT Profile Pictures on its platform

Reddit is trying out nonfungible token
(NFT) profile pictures on its platform, with the news coming simply a week or
so after Twitter executed a similar feature.
The well-known online media stage had
around 430 million month-to-month clients in 2021 and is apparently chipping
away at an NFT profile picture execution that will empower clients to set their
profile picture to any NFT with an attached picture.
In an interview with TechCrunch on
Thursday, Reddit representative Tim Rathschmidt expressed: “We’re always
exploring ways to provide value for users and communities on Reddit. At the
moment we’re testing the ability to use NFTs as profile pictures (avatars) and
verify ownership.”
“It’s a small, internal test and no
decisions have been made about expanding or rolling out the capability,” he
added.
Prior to the week, an application engineer
posted a banner from Reddit advancing the feature, proposing the tests are now
very much progressed.
Twitter additionally presented NFT profile
pictures last week, accessible to Twitter Blue endorsers on iOS.
Notwithstanding, NFTs have confronted significant reactions from gamers and Web2
engineers as of late. A day after the launch, a GitHub giver shared a program
augmentation that naturally hinders Twitter accounts utilizing NFT profile
pictures.
Reddit has been trying different things
with different initiatives around NFTs for quite a while. It even set up a
devoted page for NFT-related exercises at nft.reddit.com.
In May 2020, the organization presented cryptocurrency
tokens for its r/Cryptocurrency and r/Fortnite people group. Those tokens were
