Creator of Pokémon Go launches a bitcoin-hunting augmented reality game

The creators of Pokémon GO, Niantic Labs, and Fold have
launched a Bitcoin-hunting AR game using the technology developed by Niantic
Labs.
In order to offer the same experience to Bitcoin rewards,
Fold is using Niantic technology.
According to a Tuesday Decrypt report, Fold AR will debut
on Nov 23. In this game, users will hunt for bitcoin and other prizes using
augmented reality technology on their smartphones.
Fold CEO Will Reeves told Decrypt that the rewards will
replace the creatures in the game similar to Pokemon Go.
In addition to searching for and collecting real
bitcoins, Fold customers will also receive rewards in the environment around
them. This feature is similar to Niantic's Pokémon Go game, in which players
hunt for creatures and earn rewards in return for them.
Besides earning satoshis - the smallest possible Bitcoin
unit, players also have the possibility of winning spins that can lead to
greater rewards.
The CEO of Fold also mentioned that in the future it will be possible to "you will be able to find actual collectibles in the Fold AR experience that endow holders with special privileges, increased earning opportunities, and benefits as well, such as a permanent increase in rewards."
Currently, Fold users can access the feature every day,
though for a limited time only. The feature will be rolled out broader in the
future, and Visa debit cardholders will enjoy special rewards and bonuses.
As of 2021, there are a quarter-million app users, with
approximately half a billion transactions having already been made through
Fold's spend and deposit features.
